THE NEW ENGLAND CHEESECAKE COMPANY
Julie Wood, who lives at Lark Rise in Manor Road, handmakes delicious traditional American cheesecakes, which can be ordered in the village shop or bought at one of the many “Farmers’ Markets” that take place in this area.
The New England Cheesecake Company was initially set up in 2005 by Melissa Bird. Originally from Connecticut, USA Melissa quickly realised that it was not easy to obtain a good baked cheesecake in the UK. So, using her Grandmothers recipe the New England Cheesecake Company was born. During 2005 the Company won 2 gold and 1 bronze award at the "Great Taste Awards 2005" awarded by the Guild of Fine Foods.
Melissa returned to Connecticut with her family in 2007. The New England Cheesecake Company is now owned by Julie, who continues to handmake all the cheesecakes using exactly the same recipe.This summer Julie was thrilled to recieve a 2 Star Gold Great Taste Award for her Gluten Free Lemon Cheesecake.
